The Morenci Open Pit Mine is the largest copper mine in the United States and one of the most productive in the world — yielding over 800 million pounds of copper annually and supporting a workforce of more than 3,000 people. This exceptional free-standing cabinet piece represents one of the finest Morenci Azurites we’ve ever held. Dozens of rounded, deep azure-blue botryoidal Azurite nodules cover the entire surface, punctuated with flashes of green Malachite. The mineralisation is complete from top to base, giving the specimen extraordinary presence and a highly sculptural form.
